[ARITCLE/INTERVIEW] 2NE1 "Bought Kalbi for WINNER. Attention on younger male hoobaes."

2NE1 revealed their affection for their company's junior, WINNER. 

2NE1 (CL, Park Bom, Sandara Park, Gong Minji) mentioned YG's new rookie group, WINNER (Kang Seungyoon, Song Minho, Nam Taehyun, Kim Jinwoo, Lee Seunghoon) during an interview on November 25th at a restaurant in Mapo-gu, Seoul.

WINNER took the final victory last October 25th at the Olympic Stadium located in Songpa-gu, Seoul where they participated in the final battle of WIN: WHO IS NEXT with Team B.  With this, WINNER has been chosen as the new YG boy group, 8 years after BIG BANG.

CL who recently watched over her juniors revealed, "I think the results came out as I expected.  I'm really happy to have juniors in our company.  That's why I gathered the juniors and bought them dinner not too long ago.  The menu was Kalbi."  She began, "At first I thought 'what would be different if we had new juniors'.  But now, I'm actually very happy to have them with us.  In the beginning, when Lee Hi became my junior, I really wanted to help her as much as I could when we were on stage together." 

About this CL continued, "Dara-unnie is also especially happy to have younger male juniors."  Sandara Parkreplied, "Since we're family members, even so, they really caught my attention.  Those kids' eyes are always sparkling, you know."  Dara expressed her thoughts, "It's really cute when they have the attitude, '2NE1 seniors, please teach us well.'  I'm going to watch over them in the future and I'm looking forward to taking care of them as well.  When we first debuted, our seniors took great care of us too."

Park Bom added, "They're really great and follow their seniors very well.  All the noonas love it. (Laughs)" CLcontinued, "Another great thing is that they're in the same age group as 2NE1's maknae, Gong Minji."  She adds, "Since Minzy started her idol activities at a very young age, she wasn't able to meet a lot of friends even though she wanted to because of how busy we were.  I think this is a great chance for her to meet and get closer as friends to juniors who are the same age as her.  I hope they become closer in the future."

CL said, "We encouraged them right away and went up on the stage with them when the results that Team A won during WIN's final battle was revealed.  I personally told Team B, 'Rather think of this as a great opportunity for you to do well.'"  She continued, "Because you can still prepare and show a stronger stage in front of the fans and that this isn't the end of your path.  You will be able to debut someday and in any case, it's advantageous for you to be able to use this time and practice more.  I said these words to my juniors."

She also revealed the advice she gave to WINNER. CL explained, "To my juniors who have done well, gather up your feelings and prepare to run.  Honestly, it's more important to show them actions instead of words.  The best example is for them to put all their sincerity into their music and show us a great stage."

Park Bom revealed about WIN's results, "The team that my heart was going towards and the team I thought was going to win was different.  My heart was going towards Team A but in my head, I thought the winning team would be Team B.  I felt that they did a bit better. However, I'm really happy that Team A was chosen as the WINNER, too."

Meanwhile, 2NE1 has revealed their song "Missing you" and has been #1 on many charts.

[INTERVIEW] WINNER 'APPROACHING DEBUT', THEIR BEHIND THE STORY RELEASED

As they approach their debut, they have garnered a wild enthusiastic fandom.  They formed a rivalry with the juniors they have gone through joy and sorrow with.  At the end of the 100-day battle, they were chosen.  They are getting love calls from Korea and overseas.  Although we have watched their every move on the survival program WIN: WHO IS NEXT, they still have much to reveal. 

YG Entertainment's newest group WINNER formed from TEAM A members Kang Seungyoon, Song Minho, Lee Seunghoon, Nam Taehyun, and Kim Jinwoo dropped by at TV REPORT's office.  The members faces were glowing after gradually getting used to their popularity.  Even with their current enthusiastic and confusing state after winning, they never forget their greetings.  However, they also hinted about their apologetic hearts for the post-poned debut of TEAM B.

◆ 'SUPERSTAR K 2' Kang Seungyoon - 'KPOP STAR' Lee Seunghoon, Participating In Another Survival◆

Kang Seungyoon, "It was really hard for me when I thought about going into another survival.  However, I felt that I improved after going through the battle.  I went through a tremendous development the past 10 weeks.  So I thought, 'Of course. It's our CEO.' "

Lee Seunghoon said, "Again? Again? (Laughs)"  I watched as Lee Hi from 'KPOP STAR' and Akdong Musician from 'KPOP STAR 2' made their own debuts.  Even Kang Seungyoon's solo debut.  (Laughs)  As I watched all these people making their debut, it was hard for me as I thought I was gradually getting farther away from my own.  However, I was actually glad once the battle started.  It was like another chance has been given for me to debut.  So I thought, 'Let's just put my life on the line for 100 days and give it my all'."

◆ WIN's TEAM A has two well-known members ◆

Song Minho revealed, "At first, I worried a lot about that fact.  Because I also had thoughts that the viewers would be attracted to new faces (WIN TEAM B) that they haven't heard of yet.   Of course, we were also glad to have experienced members on our team." 

Kang Seungyoon, "I had a lot of worries thinking about the thought of losing.  Since we lost in formal battles, I felt shrunken and lost a lot of my confidence.   Following our first battle, we went through a considerable change.  We improved a lot after throwing away the thoughts of losing.  Since we started to calm our hearts, we were able to comfortably enjoy the stage."

◆Leader Replacement from Song Minho to Kang Seungyoon◆

Song Minho, "I was upset. (Laughs)  I was happy for the team but I also thought, 'Did we lose because I was unable to lead them well all this time?'   However, I knew those kinds of thoughts could be very damaging to myself so I tried my best to stop thinking about that.  I tried my best to enjoy the situation.  I'm actually very thankful to Seungyoon for doing so well."

Kang Seungyoon, "I felt a bit sorry towards Minho."

Lee Seunghoon revealed, "Actually, we call Song Minho "Ex-Leader" amongst ourselves. (Laughs)  Also, it's not only because Kang Seungyoon was placed as the leader that we have done so well.  It's because the timing was right, too.  After the leader replacement, Mino followed along well and he worked very hard."

◆Before the viewer's votes, WIN's TEAM B was in favour◆

Kang Seungyoon, "I had thoughts that Team B would debut and that Team A would be dropped.  Not only that but I also thought our members, all of us, would lose something.  Ironically, as we slowly threw away the thoughts of losing, our teamwork got much better and we were a lot natural on stage.  Thinking about it later, that was a big turning point for us."

Lee Seunghoon, "We lost in the first battle stage but honestly, we lost before that as well.   And so I felt like I was shrinking.  Since we lost another formal battle, I was suddenly thinking 'Could we really still win this?'  From that moment on, we slowly eased our hearts and just did what we loved to do.  That's why I think the results got a lot better after that."

Kang Seungyoon, "We're still continuously practicing.  Since nothing is further decided yet and we haven't officially gone to the YG Office.  We are still practicing with the Team B members in our training rooms."

◆The reason why you were able to beat Team B and win◆

Lee Seunghoon, "I think it was thanks to Kang Seungyoon's self composed song, 'GO UP'.  He just writes songs very well.  Whenever we hear the songs Kang Seungyoon writes we say, "Yes.  This is it.  Done."  Seungyoon's burst into the victory paddy."

Kang Seungyoon, "All of the members are always preparing self-composed songs.  I am also practicing myself.  We are also preparing each members' solo songs for an album in the future.  We all practice our individual and group songs amongst ourselves.  However, Yang Hyun Suk CEO makes all the decisions.  We must have permission in order to release our songs. Hahaha"

◆Must have had a hard time with Yang Hyun Suk CEO's spiteful remarks◆

Kim Jinwoo, "It was really hard after undergoing hardship.  I thought I couldn't do it and I lost a lot of my confidence.  But my Team A members helped me a lot.  They give me a lot of advice in things I didn't so well in.  During the JYP Trainee Battle, I was more nervous performing a stage in front of Park Jinyoung rather than a stage in front of many people.  I'm being honest.  Yang CEO told me to develop from this mistake and gave me guidance.  Actually it became a cure and a big help for me."

Song Minho, "Honestly I was disappointed in some parts as well.  I also thought that we lost because I was unable to be a good leader.  I tried my hardest to forget that.  Since everyone worked hard and helped each other out, we were able to get a good result."

Lee Seunghoon, "Honestly we never watched Episode 4.  (Laughs)  We actually like Yang Hyun Suk CEO's spiteful remarks.  Having bad remarks than nothing is better.  We would be more hurt if he were to say nothing to us rather than give us things to improve on."  (Members agree unanimously)

◆During your hardest times, what was Yang Hyun Suk CEO to you◆

Nam Taehyun, "To me, Yang Hyun Suk is like a strict father."

Lee Seunghoon, "Yang Hyun Suk is a religion.  He exists for us to worship him unconditionally.  You can call him, YangGod? (Laughs)  When I participated in 'KPOP STAR', Yang Hyun Suk CEO saw my potential and chose me.  It's because of his choice that got me to where I am now.  And so I've gained trust for Yang Hyun Suk CEO."

Kim Jinwoo, "Yang Hyun Suk CEO is a chameleon.  Just like a chameleon changes its skin colour, Yang CEO also changes his image.  At times, he is strict and other times, he's like an angel.  He's always cheered us on and gave us strength throughout the entire battle."

Song Minho, "To me, Yang Hyun Suk CEO is like a monsoon.  His harsh remarks for me represents the rain.  However, I also think he is my umbrella who gives these opportunities to me.  (Thinks again) Of course, YG CEO is also my love. (Laughs)"

Kang Seungyoon,  "Yang Hyun Suk CEO is a father to me. Actually, I don’t have a father who’s beside me so to me, he really is like my own dad.  CEO came to my aid when I was astray. Honestly, whenever I was having a hard time to the point that I would faint, he was always there.  Back then, I got strength from CEO’s words. I’m really thankful for him.”

◆Performing as the opening act for BIG BANG's 6 JAPAN DOME TOUR◆

Kang Seungyoon, "Standing on BIG BANG seniors' stage is an honour.  It's a stage once can stand on after working hard for more than 5 years.  We are extremely grateful that we are able to stand on that stage."

◆After your upcoming debut, what sub-units would you expect to be in?◆

Nam Taehyun, “Rather than a vocal, I want to be with a rapper.  Since my voice is high-pitched, I would match well with Mino-hyung.”

Song Minho who was chosen by Nam Taehyun answered, “I would also want to be with Taehyun. We really match well. There’s also a lot of fans who love to see us together.”

Seeing the two people choose each other, Kang Seungyoon replies, “Fine, then I’ll form a sub-unit with only Seunghoon and Jinwoo excluding Taehyun and Mino.” 

However Lee Seunghoon says, “I want to be with the Big Bang Seniors and 2NE1 though” leaving Kang Seungyoon flustered and causing laughter amongst them.

Then, Kim Jinwoo looks around him and says, “I want to be with PSY-sunbaenim?” causing the members to burst into laughter.

◆Are you slowly getting used to the popularity?◆

Kang Seungyoon, "I haven't felt it directly as of yet.  Just greeting here and there, and even doing this interview, I'm still gradually getting used to it. (Smiles)"

Kim Jinwoo, "I haven't seen my dad yet but I bet he's very happy about it."

Nam Taehyun, "I don't know much about being popular.  I always get stumped when I get these questions. (Laughs)"

[INTERVIEW] TEAM A AIMS TO BECOME TRUE WINNERS AS THEY BECOME WINNER!

The brand-new K-pop idol group WINNER, formerly known as Team A from the YG Survival program WIN: Who Is Next, came here at three in the afternoon on November 6. When I mean ‘here,’ it’s the KPOPPlanet’s office at Kyunghyang Shinmun. The boys were taller than I’d thought, from what I’d seen on TV, and already looked like a stylish K-pop idol group. This in spite of their nervous smiles as they looked around.

The first thing I asked was: “How old are you all?” ^_^

Their answer was:

Seung Yoon (19), Seung Hoon (21), Jin Woo (22), Min Ho (20), Tae Hyun (19)

After a quick round of ‘how are you’s’ and handshaking, we began our interview.

Q: How do you feel now that you’ve won?

(Seung Yoon) The fact that it’s over feels great but our heart aches for Team B, because they are our dong-saeng-deul (little brothers). Also we’ve shown so many of our weaknesses on-screen that rather than celebrating our debut, we’re worrying how to present better performances at our debut.

Q: Seung Yoon, this is your second debut! You could’ve stayed as a solo. Do you have any regrets?

(Seung Yoon) I have any regrets. I believe I’ve learned a lot from training for three years and from working on this project, that I’m happy with how things turned out.

Q: Did you envy the other Superstar K2 friends who debuted before you?

(Seung Yoon) Whenever I saw one of them debut, I did wonder when I would make it myself. But I felt I was lagging behind them back then. I knew I wasn’t ready to come out, so I focused on my training.

Q: Min Ho, why did you cry so much in the final episode?

(Min Ho) It was the final battle and we won, and I realized our trainee days were finally over. That realization made everything seem so emotional. (Smiling shyly)

Q: Did you feel sorry for Team B?

(Min Ho) We felt bad of course. After the second battle we were quite sure of ourselves, and at the final battle, we again felt that we’d prepared as best as we could. But Team B did so well. We actually cried watching their performances.

Q: Jin Woo, do you know what Team B is doing nowadays?

(Jin Woo) Both of our teams’ schedules are over and we’re training again. CEO Yang actually gave us a break (for a few days) but we didn’t know what to do so we just hung out at the practice room. (Laughing)

Q: How long have you trained? Did you feel any camaraderie with the other team?

(Jin Woo) Some of Team B were trainees with me from the beginning. I was a YG trainee for four years, so in a way, I’m as close to Team B as I am to Team A.

Q: Tae Hyun, how do you feel now that you’re going to debut?

(Tae Hyun): For me, the years as a trainee weren’t so short, considering how old I am. Now I’m finally debuting, it’s so surreal and feels incredible. The first thing that came to my mind was how my mother supported me all these times. I’m thankful that I could finally be a proud son to her. (Everyone agrees and nods)

Q: This is like a new beginning right? Another start?

(Seung Hoon) I feel this is just a first step. If, before, we  lived a patterned life for several years, now, everything is so new, and we’re meeting new people and seeing new things… Of course, we will be required to be even more responsible than before.

Q: Do you want to go overseas?

(Seung Hoon) Of course! We are actually studying Japanese and will do an opening performance at Big Bang’s dome tour.

Q: What did you gain from these battles? Teamwork?

(Seung Yoon) Yes, the biggest is and has to be teamwork. Honestly, when we were just trainees, we knew we could be kicked out anytime. Even when we lived in the same dorm, we were still conscious that any one of us could be told to leave. But since the project, we trained as a team, knowing that we will either debut as one or fail as one. Now that we are WINNER, we are like a family and we know we won’t leave any member behind.

Q: Do you like the team name WINNER?

(Seung Yoon) We love it. There’s a popular belief about how singers’ fates follows their names. So WINNER is an excellent name.

(Seung Hoon) It may be a bit juvenile (Everyone Laugh) but it’s not sensitive about the trends, so we think it’s a great name.

[INTERVIEW] YG ROOKIE ‘WINNER’, “WHAT IF YOU LOST?” MY HEAD WOULD EXPLODE.“I don’t even want to imagine it.”

YG Entertainment’s WINNER from the debut project ‘WHO IS NEXT:WIN’, we asked WINNER (Kang Seungyoon, Lee Seunghoon, Kim Jinwoo, Nam Taehyun, Song Minho) how it would’ve been like if they didn’t win.

Compared to the short meeting with My Daily, they told us their thoughts about their long journey on ‘WIN’. Surviving an unprecedented survival program and even winning, the WINNER members who seized the opportunity said, “Even though it was a very long and difficult process, I’m happy and relieved that we’re able to debut in the end.” 

The show was made to be very competitive and heated to maximize the charm of a survival. Team A becomes the WINNER and unfortunately, Team B becomes eliminated. From the biggest judge representative, Yang Hyun Suk CEO, they got favourable and harsh words and it really was a line between heaven and hell. It was a battle where they didn’t know who would win.

The reporter asked the members, “If you lost, what would you be doing right now?” 
Kim Jinwoo said with a delicate expression, “I think I would be at my wit’s end.” 
Lee Seunghoon replied, “I would be at my wit’s end in Busan.” The other members nodded their head in sympathy.

After going through a fierce competition, the members are faced with pressure and their own hopes with their upcoming debut. WINNER said, “We’ll return the favour to all the people who have given us love. Although it won’t be easy, we’ll work our hardest and become the best” as they raised their fist into the air.

Meanwhile, this upcoming November and December, WINNER will be the opening act for BIG BANG’s Dome Tour. After that in late december or early January, the new group will be making their debut.
